Community Presentation: How to Help a Loved One

Wednesday, May 4, 6-8pm, Chapel Hill Public Library, Meeting Room B

 

Has your loved one been raped, sexually assaulted, or abused? Are you struggling with how best to help them through the healing process or just want to know what else you can do? Come to this workshop for adult parents, partners, family members, and friends of those who have experienced sexual violence. Whether the assault happened recently or years aog, you will learn helpful tips and resources to use as a supporter. Pre-registration is not required by is encouraged so we can prepare snacks. Circle of Sisters: Healing for African American Survivors

Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30pm, May 24 – July 19 in Hillsborough (no mtg July 5)

 

Circle of Sisters is a culturally-specific group where participants will learn, share, and gain support from others with similar experiences. This is open to adult, female survivors and will meet weekly for 8 sessions beginning in May 2016. Please note that advance meetings with staff and group facilitators are required for participation – pre-meetings happening now. Contact groups@ocrcc.org.

 

Monthly Self-Care Workshops for Survivors 

Every 3rd Sunday of the Month, 2-4pm at the Center

Each month focuses on a different tool for self-care or self-exploration to help you on your healing journey. The goal of these workshops is to provide an opportunity to learn and practice self-care skills together. Survivors of all genders are welcome to attend.Pre-registration is required. Contact groups@ocrcc.org.

 

 

May 22 – Zen Meditation

This trauma-informed meditation workshop will introduce individuals who are new to meditation to the practice of being in the moment with their thoughts, and offer veterans a chance to practice with other survivors. Kye will guide participants through seated and walking meditations, grounded in Zen practice. Participants are welcome (not required) to bring cushions, blankets, etc.
