Get Help

If you are dealing with an imminent life threatening situation, injury, or crisis

  • Call 911
  • Call Campus Police at 962-8100, and/or
  • Proceed to the UNC Hospitals Emergency Room

If you’re not sure if what you’ve experienced is interpersonal violence or want to talk about what to do next, call:

  • Orange County Rape Crisis Center hotline (24/7): 1-866-WE-LISTEN (935-4783) or 919-967-7273
  • Compass Center for Women and Families (formerly the Family Violence Prevention Center) hotline (24/7): 1-866-929-7122 or 919-929-7122

If you have experienced physical or sexual assault, especially within the last 72 hours, see Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS)–  for medical assistance for mental health or trauma

  • Campus Health Services or Emergency Department – for medical assistance if you’ve been injured or are concerned about sexually transmitted infections or pregnancy
  • LGBTQ Center – for support with any of the above services

After business hours, contact UNC Department of Public Safety and ask to speak to the on-call Dean of Students if you need assistance accessing any of these services.
